Bond and Tiki

Bond and Tiki are expecting puppies at the end of March. Bond has a wonderful temperament and is well-titled. We think that he compliments Tiki well. Tiki also has a wonderful temperament. She enjoys obedience classes and Therapy Dog sessions at a local nursing home. She also enjoys upland hunting.

Tiki had an x-ray yesterday and it shows 5 puppies. Our veterinarian gave us a positive report and we are now waiting.

March 28, 2020 - We have puppies. There are 3 boys and 2 girls. All are strong and hungry.
March 30 - Everyone continues to do well and everyone is gaining weight! They are moving about more, taking milk well, and making more noise.
April 3 - When I weighed the puppies today, 2 of them have doubled their weight since birth, 6 days ago. There are 2 that will pass that probably tomorrow as they have one ounce to go.
April 4 - All of the pups have doubled their birth weights! They continue to do well - they sleep and eat often.
April 6 - 4 of the 5 pups are getting close to being the same size and Mr. Purple is slowly catching up.
April 7 - 3 of the puppies weighed in at 2 pounds each! They are getting so big! Today they had their nails clipped and they did well. I did most of the clipping while they were nursing. They are getting stronger and are moving around much better.
April 8 - Mr. Green, Mr. Yellow, Miss Pink, and Miss Red are all weigh 2 pounds or more. Mr. Purple is 1.5 pounds.
April 11 - The puppies are 2 weeks old and have grown and changed so much. Their eyes are starting to open and they are making new noises. Mr. Green is trying to get around on four paws. Soon we will be leaving the whelping pen for a larger space.
April 12 - No pictures today. I am adding some holistic books to the list above. Tomorrow there will be pictures. Tiki turns 5 years old tomorrow!
April 13 - Today is Tiki's 5th birthday. The puppies are 17 days old and are getting busier. They still sleep a lot but when they are awake, they move about much more and explore their area.
April 14 - Today was a fun day. All of the puppies had their nails clipped. They did really well with that today. After nails were clipped I put the puppies into Tiki's crate, with Tiki. She nursed them and I cleaned the whelping pen. Tiki left the crate and the puppies fell asleep in the crate.
April 15 - We added the pee pan into the whelping pen today. I have no expectations for them to use it. I want them to feel the fake grass between their toes and the sensation that it brings. No pictures today, sorry.
April 16 - These puppies are so smart! They are using the puppy potty more than they are missing it. We did some scents again today - bay leaves this morning and pheasant feathers this afternoon.
April 17 - They are mouthing each other and learning to use their vocal cords.
April 18 - The puppies are 3 weeks old! We took pictures of their heads today. Miss Pink was not happy that we woke her up from her nap.
April 19 - Moving day! The whelping pen moves to the living room. The puppies are moving out of the bedroom and into our living space. They will now become a part of our family. They will start being introduced to the sounds of daily living.
April 21 - The puppies are starting to take goat milk with green tripe. Everything is put in a food processor so they can eat it. They are getting their sharp puppy teeth now. All of the puppies got another nail trim today.
April 22 - Everyone got a sort of bath today - with a damp wash cloth. They were introduced to a stuffed duck and stuffed squirrel. Tonight they will get goat milk and ground venison.
April 23 - Today was moving day again. The puppies are still in the living room but their space has doubled and they no longer have the whelping pen. They have a kennel (which is not in the picture), their potty area, and lots of room to explore. All of the puppies are good with the sound of the vacuum today. They got to play with the big, green frog and Mr. Yellow really loved that.
April 24 - Sorry, no pictures today. Today was a busy day with the puppies. All of the puppies got their nails clipped and received yogurt as a treat. They played with the big, green frog and continued to explore their new space. We are feeding them more food and allowing Tiki the ability to feed less. All of the puppies are using the puppy potty more, which is nice. Tomorrow is a big day and there will be pictures. Betsy (Brynwood Tollers) is coming over to see the puppies.
April 26 - I missed posting yesterday. Betsy was here and assessed the litter. She said this is a beautiful litter and gave us more information to work with. Today the puppies played with some new toys. A couple of the puppies learned to take treats and were introduced to clicker training.
April 27 - We continued with treats and the clicker. We added toys and the puppies enjoyed that. The favorite was also Tiki's favorite and Great-Grandma Ahna's. We also enjoyed some time outside and everyone did FaceTime with my Aunt.
April 29 - The puppies and I have been working inside due to rainy weather. No pictures but lots of progress. They get new toys everyday. They have eaten out of different dishes. Most are taking treats. Today they explored our porch - different surfaces to walk on. They changes surfaces easily, without hesitation. They are all progressing nicely. We continue to work and when we are outside, I will take pictures.
April 30 - Personalities are beginning to come out more. Miss Red, Rose, loves to re-decorate! She pulls at the blankets, pads, toys, beds, etc. and moves them all over the place. Mr. Green likes to sleep in the puppy potty. Hmmm....
Mr. Purple is very busy. He is making up for being the little one. I love to watch him work. Miss Pink enjoys chewing on the toys and my toes. Mr. Yellow is Mellow. He reminds me of his Grandpa Gabe. He loves sleeping in the crate, on his back.
May 1 - We rested. We tried giving the puppies crushed chicken necks and Miss Pink worked on one and Mr. Green asked her what to do and that was about it. The rest were interested but confused. We will try again tomorrow.
May 3 - Yesterday we all had a big day. The puppies had visitors! Yesterday was the first time that the puppies were allowed to run free, in the fenced backyard. They mostly stayed around us humans and had a lot of fun. They played until they dropped. Grandpa Gabe, Tiki, and all of the puppies were together. I didn't take pictures - oops! The puppies loved it and slept the rest of the day and most of the night. Today they will be introduced to the sounds of the lawnmower, as well as the smell and feel of freshly mowed grass.
May 4 - We all enjoyed the warm weather yesterday. The puppies love being outside. Gabe is getting used to the puppies and today spent some time just watching them play and rest. He wants to be with them but they may be too much for him, all at once. Yesterday he turned 15 years and 3 months. He is still moving well for his age but puppies have sharp teeth and may move faster than Grandpa Gabe. Today I added a big blue disc into the pen. The puppies were not afraid of it. Most of them took it on fearlessly. The disc is a surface that moves so the puppies have to work on balance and fear. They really did great.
May 5 - Today we went out to the greenhouse and walked on the dirt floor and the ground cover. We looked in the garage also. The puppies had vests put on them with a leash attached. Some walked well with me when I called, "Puppy, puppy, puppy". Some are more advanced than others but all want to do it.
May 9 - No new pictures but some will be coming soon. The puppies are getting so big and mobile that taking pictures inside our house just gives blurry puppies. I am working with each puppy individually, and as a group, on manners and coming.
Miss Red loves feathers and retrieved a pheasant wing today. Miss Pink, Mr. Green, and Mr. Yellow also love pheasant feathers. They enjoy carrying them around. Mr. Purple is always a day or 2 behind the rest so I am sure that he will be carrying feathers soon also as he was very interested in them. Each day is more time working with them and watching them soak it all in. Deena will be here on Thursday. I don't know where the time has gone but these past 6 weeks have passed very quickly. Tiki is now spending more time with the puppies again but she is playing with them. She really enjoys playing with her puppies.
May 10 - The puppies had company today. More socialization for them and a nice walk in the woods for us. I did take pictures today.
May 19 - Deena arrived on May 14th, and it has been a busy week here. The puppies have been socialized and had many new experiences. As we draw our week to a close, we know who will be staying here and the surprise is who will be staying in Deena's breeding program. I am very happy to say that Mr. Green will be staying here. His name is now Asher.
May 21 - I am left wondering where the time has gone and how these tiny puppies grew up so fast. Miss Rose is now in New Hampshire with Deena. Miss Pink is now Annie and will be in Connecticut. I am enjoying the quiet that their departure has created but I am sad that they have flown so far away. Before they left we took pictures of Tiki, Gabe, and each puppy. Sweet memories.
May 25 - Mr. Yellow, now Otto, has flown from the nest. He has gone to live with his wonderful family in Oregon. He will have a life filled with fun, adventure, and love. I am looking forward to hearing about his adventures.
Tiki is missing her puppies right now. Thankfully we have 2 puppies for her to continue to love.

Update:
November 2, 2020 - I have recent pictures of all of the puppies. Asher (Mr. Green) is with us. He has picked up ducks and is learning about upland training. He has learned to jump in the pool and swim. He loves it all. He is enjoying walks in the woods. Mostly he is becoming a wonderful companion. Grandpa Gabe is still with us and doing well and Asher is learning from him.
Otto (Mr. Yellow) is enjoying life on the west coast. He has learned to enjoy the beach, the waves, as well as walks and camping with his family. He is very loved and spoiled.
Annie (Miss Pink) is living in CT. She is living a very active life and enjoying all of it! She is learning basics in obedience and agility. Mostly she is enjoying being loved and spoiled.
Merida (Miss Red) is living in NH with her family. She is busy with her family - 2 adults and 2 children. They love her and thankfully are entertained with her puppy antics.
Rocky (Mr. Purple) is living on the east coast. He is a very happy boy and is learning ways to entertain his family. They enjoy the laughter that he brings them.
